OVERCHARGED

Lasers. Mirrors. Power stations. What could go wrong?

Overcharged is a puzzle game where you fire lasers across a grid, using reflectors, splitters, and other tools to activate every station. Each level is a new layout, and it's up to you to figure out how to power everything up with limited pieces.

Rules:

  • Lasers move in straight lines.

  • Reflectors turn them 90°.

  • T-Splitters send the beam left and right.

  • Beam Splitters split the beam, bending one 90º and letting one pass through

  • Power stations need to be hit by lasers to activate.

You win when all stations are powered.

Controls:

Left Click – Drag/place objects/Rotate objects   R – Reset laser   Space - Shoot Laser

(The Turret, Reflector, and Beam splitter pieces can be rotated)

Let's trade feedback! I submitted a project too.

  1. Mechanics: Super refined! You polished this really well. Puzzles are not easy to build I like how far you stretched such simple laser-bouncing features. This has potential to be on iPad or large phones, easily.
  2. Art Style: It's clean and clear art style. You went with simple futuristic blue and metallic colorings. I think there's potential to add a variety of lasers and light-bending shapes though. You have many levels; I did hope for a variable laser type. You have flexibility to vary the art since the mechanics are well-done.
  3. Audio: The audio is cohesive, not too jarring on the music or SFX side. You could vary the laser sounds though so laser bounce or laser firing or laser stopping have a list to pool from so it sounds unique every time. Many shooter games do this, where it's many Bullet-fired sound effect so the gun sounds different on every bullet to keep players engaged. Halo has a Soft-fire, Loud-fire, Continuous Fire and Fire-last bullet sort of sound lists.
  4. Recommendations: Add different laser types and colors. Laser types you can equip or switch between after unlocking them. Maybe some levels you have to bend a laser than can break through walls. Or some levels there's a laser that can bend through water. Or a laser that can bend along a curve when near a magnet. There's a-lot of potential here. I'd also experiment with a greater variety of mirror types. For example, a Prism mirror that splits a laser into different colors or a Prism that splits a laser into different directions.
  5. Please add 1 tutorial and controls in-game. I read the itch page but other players might not.

I don't think I was supposed to do the puzzle this way

Love this bro. Very nice game. My only criticism would be to add a tutorial or something cuz i had to look in the text down below to understand whats going on. But once you understand the rules and each piece its really fun. Well Done!

An extremely cool puzzle game! I love the depth in some of the later stages, really make my brains go overtime!

I can see the thoughts being put in the puzzle!

However, there is a few things I want to add:

1/ There are no tutorials in the game and it is a bit unintuitive at the start

Andddd that's all, i don't really know how to critique a puzzle games....

Overall, a fun experience. 8/10
